Type 444 Long Sleeve Boomerang Shirt

$170.00 $353.00

The Boomerang Shirt is cut without a shoulder seam. Usually this requires a straight horizontal shoulder, like a kimono, but to give a more comfortable fit this pattern is sloped over the shoulder. This sets the front and back parts of the shirt at an angle to each other, making a large boomerang-shaped panel. This also means that the grain of the fabric is pushed onto the bias down the body. Cuttin this way makes the Boomerang Shirt slightly stretch with a very satisfying bounce to the pockets.

This piece has been made from Tenders interpretation of the classic welsh stripe. Named for the even spaced patterned wooden fabrics traditional worn in Wales. The rich blue you see on this shirt is taken from Prussian Blue, a pigment dervied from iron salt and discovered in around 1704 in Berlin, by the chemist Johann Jacob Diesbach. Whilst woad and indigo dyes which were being used at the time were susceptible to fading in natural light, Prussian Blue proved a reliable alternative, known for its intense, slightly red caste blue.
