The Real McCoy's

U.S. Navy Submarine Jacket

Charcoal

$730.00

The 'Submarine Jacket' also referred to as a Coat, Winter, Woolen, was a wool coat issued to submarine personnel. Double Cloth herringbone wool was utilized in the construction, a commonly employed fabric for work wear prior to World War II.

It was rare for the U.S Navy to issue a black colour jacket in comparison to the commonly used standard navy blue. As the production of the jacket was minimal due to being made exclusively for Submarine personnel it remains relatively unknown. The existence of the jacket amongst current collectors discretely made their way in to charity and vintage shops and to this day are extremely rare to find.

The Real McCoy's have reproduced the garment to the highest specifications. An understated jacket, with two large front pockets and collar strap for extra warmth. The unique characteristics of the fabric appears more with years of wear, as the pattern of the wool is highlighted. A rare and truly beautiful piece.

The Real McCoy's is a brand like no other. To many the outdated features of vintage clothing have little significance in today's modern society, but this is exactly what influences the brand. American fashion of the 1940's and 1950's is a source of great inspiration; a young country unburdened by the restrictions of traditional customs, one that’s uninhibited, rational and innovative.
